What Privacy Laws will Ensure Fines, Penalties and Criminal Sanctions?

Duration: 90 Minutes
Privacy regulations have taken a front and center role in the workplace and in other venues like technology, finance, health and medical healthcare, criminal justice and in social media. Employers are more than ever attempting to toe the line between their rights as Employers with those of employees. Employers are clear that there should be no expectation of privacy in the workplace since employees are using company equipment like computer, telephones, Internet and other similar equipment. Most would agree that employees should not be surprised that what they do during work hours may be scrutinized. However, when it comes to using their own cell phones, social media and what they do on their own time, there is a huge movement that insists that Employers should not be involved.

Why Should you Attend
Employers need to be aware of how privacy protections impact their companies and employees. Many privacy protections include HIPPA and GINA when it comes to medical information and information accessed in wellness questionnaires, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), American with Disability Act (ADA & ADAA) and even information in employee personnel files like I-9 documents, drug testing and criminal Background screenings.

Privacy concerns should be addressed, and privacy policies should be developed to protect not only employees but also Employers. This training is surely a training that needs to be part of the risk management strategy along with workplace regulations, employee handbooks and policies.
